Finding Our Feet and Our Joy

A year ago, I shared our story from a place of fear and uncertainty that’s for sure. Today though, I’m writing from a very different place: one of gratitude, relief, and hope. All of the words I’m taking into 2026.

When we first came to the YWCA, I didn’t know if we’d ever feel safe again. The days were long, the nights even longer, and every little decision felt like it could make or break us… and maybe it was breaking us a little. I worried constantly about providing for my kids and giving them a sense of stability.

But now… Things are different! With the help of the YWCA we finally have a real chance. This year has been full of small victories that mean everything: laughter filling our home again, school projects proudly coming home in their backpacks, and even quiet evenings where I can just sit and enjoy watching my kids be kids. We’re building routines, planning for the future, and dreaming about what’s next. Something I didn’t think would happen a year ago – dreaming.

I can’t express enough how much it means to have people like you cheering us on. The support we received through programs like this didn’t just give us a roof; it gave us our lives back. It gave us hope. And it gave me the courage to believe that we can keep moving forward, one day at a time.

Thank you for walking with us last year and for continuing to show that compassion, care, and generosity change lives. They certainly have changed ours.
