On-Call Cook

Hours: On call basis


  • Follow instructions left by Full time cook (ie. prep work, meals to be served)
  • Keep record of the amount of meals served through the kitchen
  • Ensure all women and children are fed healthy balanced meals
  • Follow all Allergy Alerts brought to the kitchen staff attention
  • Ensure that all persons entering the kitchen follow proper protocol (ie. hair nets, proper foot ware)
  • Grocery shop for both shelters


  • Safe Food Handling Certified
  • Police clearance
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the following issues:  Homelessness, Woman Abuse, Addictions, Mental Health Issues and Youth and Women’s Issues
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as with a team
