Off-Site Supported Transitional Housing

YWCA Niagara Region Transitional Housing Program is designed to provide safe and subsidized transitional housing throught St. Catharines, Welland and Niagara Falls for single women and single women with their children. The residents work with staff to set goals that will lead to more independence. Staff offers the residents with life skills training, support, goal setting, advocacy, and referrals. Various programming also available to the residence are guest speakers, outdoor excursions, assistance with finding employment and appropriate accommodations. Women stay in the program for up to one year.

On-Site Transitional Housing

On-Site housing is a one year program located in our Niagara Falls shelter and St. Catharines Shelter. Six beds are available at each facility. The On-Site housing is a bridge between emercency housing and off-site housing, where the women recieve advocacy and life skills training. While recieving the care they need, they are still living in affordable housing until they are able to live independently in the community.

Epworth Terrace - Court Street Women's Residence

YWCA Niagara Region - Epworth Terrace, is a Women's Residence, part of the transitional housing component of the YWCA's housing mission.

Residence at Epworth Terrace are capable of living independently but still need advocacy and support for a period of tiem. While living at the acility, women attend sessions in goal setting and life skills where they learn self-reliance, how to work with one another, and general coping skills.

Women usually stay here for up to one year, or until ready to move on to independent living.

Eligibility Requirement

  • 16 years or older
  • Free from substance abuse
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Inspired to set goals
  • Willingness to improve their lives for a year
